COVID-19 Statement

Updated: April 3, 2020

As a law firm with clients and colleagues throughout world, Design IP is closely monitoring the impact of Coronavirus (COVID – 19) and following the advice of the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Pennsylvania state government in order to protect our staff and their families, and ensure that we continue to support our clients.

The safeguarding of our staff is of paramount importance and we are providing regular updates to them on both the situation and the recommended precautions.  Our staff is working 100% remote and will continue to do so until the State order mandating the closing of non-life sustaining business is lifted.

Our IT infrastructure is primarily cloud-based, which means that our partners and staff are able to handle all firm-related work remotely – ensuring that the service we deliver to our clients remains unaffected.

Our firm also has deep roots in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania.  During this crisis, we are doing what we can to support our friends, colleagues, businesses, and local community organizations -- whether it be donating blood, sewing masks, making grocery deliveries to vulnerable residents, or ordering takeout from local restaurants than cannot serve dine-in customers.

Meetings, events and seminars

We have full telephone and video teleconferencing capabilities and will be avoiding face-to-face meetings with clients and colleagues until government-imposed restrictions on group meetings are lifted.

In addition, we have postponed social events and in-person seminars for the foreseeable future.  Any scheduled seminars during this period will be delivered as webinars and , where possible, supported by updates on our website, so that our clients and contacts continue to receive regular important legal updates.

We look forward to sharing meals, drinks, and good conversation with you again when the crisis has passed.

Global Impact of Coronavirus On IP Filings and Examination

All of the patent & trademark offices in the jurisdictions used by our clients remain fully operational.  In addition, all of the foreign law firms with which we partner are also fully operational.  Many patent & trademark offices are providing opportunities to extend response deadlines for applicants affected by Covid-19.
